53 Miles From Shawnee

Home Up Next

It was after noon when I completed the engine break-in and packed up to resume my journey.  I had planned to meet Lester Morrison, Rob Rollison and Dave Sweeney at Shawnee but expected them to be already gone.  I was hoping they would still be at KIMO when I got there the next day.  I was also hoping my preferred fuel would be there.  I wasn't sure about running 100LL in my brand new engine.

Mark advised me to be easy on the new Bluehead 582 and so I did.   Climbouts were at full throttle (6200 RPMs) but as soon as I reached pattern altitude I throttled back to 5600 RPMs and made very gradual climbs to cruising altitude then dropped back to 5200 RPMs.
