Mark removed the head to reveal a very beat up magneto side piston
top and head. It was obvious right from the start that the rod bearings on the
crankshaft had disintegrated for this piston. That was all I needed to see to
replace this 582 engine with a new bluehead 582. The old engine would have required
a new crank, bearings, rods, pistons and head. I would have had a new engine without
the benefits of the new bluehead 582 design changes.
